We collect very little information about you. Here's exactly what, why, and what your rights are.

Who we are

This website is run by Alison Statham, trading as Hospitality Buying Guide. Alison is responsible for any personal information we handle, and you can contact her at hello@hospitalitybuyingguide.co.uk.

What we collect, and why

If you email us. We'll have your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you write. We use this only to reply to you and deal with what you've asked, such as a question or a correction. We do this because we have a legitimate interest in answering messages about our site. We keep emails for as long as we need to deal with them, and normally no longer than two years after we last hear from you.

When you visit the site. Like every website, our hosting company, Namecheap, automatically receives basic technical information from your device, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. This is used to deliver the site and keep it secure, which is in our legitimate interest. We don't use it to identify you.

Visitor statistics. If you click Accept on our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are most useful. Google collects information such as the pages you view, roughly where you are, and the type of device and browser you use, using cookies. We see totals, not who you are. We do this with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Google keeps this data for up to 14 months. If you click Reject, Google Analytics isn't used. Our cookies page has the details.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone for marketing. The only companies that handle it are the ones that keep the site and our email running, such as our hosting and email providers, and Google if you accept analytics cookies. Google may process this information outside the UK, with safeguards in place. We'd only share it with anyone else if the law required us to.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to how we use it. Just email hello@hospitalitybuyingguide.co.uk. We'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please talk to us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we use information, we'll update this notice first and change the date at the top.
