How much will food hygiene training cost for my team? Free calculator for pubs, cafés and restaurants
Last updated 5 October 2026. Prices checked 5 October 2026
Type in how many people you're training at each level. You'll see what five popular providers would charge for your whole team, with their published team discounts taken off, cheapest first.
Online Level 2 training for a team of six costs from about £72 to £200 including VAT, depending on the provider. Bigger teams pay less per person, because most providers knock 10% or more off once you buy 10 courses.

A guide, not a quote. Uses each provider's published prices and team discounts, checked between 22 September and 5 October 2026. Prices change, so check the provider's website before you buy.
How the calculator works
It multiplies the number of courses you need by each provider's published price, then takes off any team discount the provider publishes for that number of courses. High Speed Training and Virtual College let you mix levels to reach a discount band, so a mixed team counts together. CIEH publishes team prices for Level 2 and Level 3, and you can mix levels to reach them. Food Safety UK and the Highfield course through Axtell don't publish team prices, so they're shown at full price.
Only the providers in our comparisons are included, and not all of them offer every level. If one doesn't cover a level you need, you'll see it in a separate list underneath.
Questions people often ask
Is VAT included?
Yes, unless you tick the VAT box. Training for your staff is usually a business cost you can claim the VAT back on if you're VAT registered. Your accountant can confirm this for your business.
Are team discounts worth it?
Often, yes. If your number lands just under a discount band, buying one or two extra courses can cost the same or less. The calculator tells you when that happens. Just check how long you have to use the courses, so a spare doesn't run out before your next new starter. Our guide to buying courses for a team explains more.
Does everyone need a paid course?
No. The law asks that staff are trained to a level that fits their job, not that they hold a paid certificate. Free training plus good supervision can be enough for some roles. Our guide Is there a free food hygiene certificate? helps you decide.
Where can I see what each course includes?
Price isn't everything. Resits, printed certificates and how long you have to finish all vary. Our Level 2 course comparison and guide to course costs show the details.
