Independent food hygiene training guidance for UK hospitality businesses

Before you buy a food hygiene course, see how the main providers compare:

How we compare food hygiene courses

When you're choosing a course, you need to trust the information in front of you. Here's exactly how we put our comparisons together.

Where our information comes from

We use each provider's own website, terms and conditions and sample certificates, plus official guidance from GOV.UK and the Food Standards Agency. We haven't taken every course ourselves, and we never pretend we have. If we ever do try a course, we'll say so clearly.

What we compare

We look at the things that matter when you're buying: the total price including VAT, how the course is taught and how long it takes, the test and pass mark, whether resits are free, what kind of certificate you get, how long you have to finish, team discounts, and any extra costs that might catch you out.

When information is missing

Sometimes a provider doesn't publish something, like a pass mark or resit policy. When that happens, we don't guess. You'll see an amber question mark and "Not published", which means it's worth asking the provider before you buy.

Keeping things up to date

Every page shows the date its facts were checked. Prices and policies change, so it's always worth a quick look at the provider's website before you pay. If you spot something out of date, please let us know.

Free options count too

We include free official resources alongside paid courses, because sometimes they're all a business needs.
